Florida Nonprofit Alliance 2026 Compensation and Benefits Survey

Florida Nonprofit Alliance, along with partners from across the state,  is pleased to launch the first ever comprehensive, statewide compensation and benefits survey. Compensating employees - the people who work hard to make our communities better places to live - is one of the most important strategies to ensure organizational quality and sustainability.

This survey supports the development of a comprehensive Compensation & Benefits Report and Dashboard that provides benchmarking data for a wide range of nonprofit positions across organizations of varying sizes throughout Florida. Your participation helps us provide county-level data - we must have a minimum of 5 respondents per position and county to include it in the report. Your responses are confidential and will only be reported in aggregate. Results will be shared with all participating organizations.

The final report and dashboard will help Florida nonprofits demonstrate sound management to grantmakers, donors, and community stakeholders, while also supporting hiring, retention, and informed budgeting decisions. Most importantly, the data helps ensure your organization’s compensation practices remain competitive and aligned with the market.

We know it is a lot of work to complete this survey, and we appreciate your investment of time! We believe the final product will make the effort worth it.

Start the Survey

Survey Deadline: July 14, 2026

This survey is intended only for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in Florida with at least one paid staff member.

Please submit only one response per organization. We recommend the survey be completed by the individual most familiar with your organization’s compensation, benefits, and staffing information, such as HR, finance, or executive leadership staff.

Before beginning, we recommend gathering the following information/documents:

  • Employee compensation and salary information
  • Benefits information
  • Job titles and staffing structure
  • Payroll or HR reports
  • Organizational financial/budget information

The survey process includes two required steps; completing the online survey questions and downloading, completing, and uploading the salary spreadsheet. Both steps must be completed for your submission to be included in the final dataset.

We strongly recommend saving periodically while completing the survey to avoid losing progress. Be sure to keep a record of the email address and password used so you can log back in to your survey later.

Who should complete the survey?

501 (c) (3) orgs in Florida with at least one paid staff member. Organizations should submit one response per organization. Ideally, the survey should be completed by a CEO, Executive Director, CFO, HR professional, or another staff member with access to compensation and benefits information.

How long will the survey take?

Completion time will vary depending on organization size and how readily available your information is, but gathering compensation, benefits, staffing, and payroll information in advance can help streamline the process.

We know it is a time commitment to compile and complete your response, and we thank you in advance for your time investment.

What information should organizations have available?

We recommend gathering:

  • Employee compensation and salary information
  • Benefits information
  • Job titles and staffing structure
  • Payroll or HR reports
  • Policies related to PTO and leave (if applicable)

Is organization data confidential?

Individual organizational responses will not be publicly identified. Results will be aggregated and presented to provide meaningful sector-wide insights and benchmarking opportunities.

Why does participation matter?

A strong response rate helps ensure findings are representative across regions, organization sizes, and job categories—making the final resource more useful for the entire sector. For counties with at least 5 responses per position, you will have access to not only statewide and regional salary information, but all the way down to the county level!

Will participants receive access to the results?

Survey findings will be made available through an interactive dashboard and supporting resources published by Florida Nonprofit Alliance.

When does the survey close?

The survey will remain open through July 14. The final report and interactive dashboard will be available in the fall of 2026.
